Dream….

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted last. The only fiber related project I have been working on has been the wedding quilt and there is nothing new to post on that until it’s finished. I have been taking my 2nd class with Jessica Wesolek of http://www.cre8it.com. It is an art journaling class, and has been much fun. I have discovered a new medium which is quickly becoming an addiction – pan pastels. They are so much fun to work with and the colors are yummy. This page was done with them.

November TIF Finished

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

I have a long way to go before I can say I use typography as a design element as was the challenge for the November TIF, but I tinkered with this a bit and I think it looks more finished. Thanks to those of you who left comments or emailed me with your suggestions. I appreciated the thought that quilting would help this, but this one is done on paper not fabric.

November TIF in progress

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

I wasn’t going to participate in the November TIF, I have never been particularly inspired by typography as a design element. Meaningful words, yes, but not just the form or shape of them. However, after my walk through the arboretum yesterday (see previous post) I was inspired to start on this piece. I used regular watercolors, pearl ex watercolors, and rubber stamps and foam stamps with chalk ink. I then was inspired to add the numbers which made it appropriate for this months challenge. I think it needs a little something else, but I don’t know that that is yet, so will set this aside until inspiration hits. I would also welcome brainstorming ideas in my comments.

Enjoying the last vestiges of Autumn

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

]It was an absolutely gorgeous day here in Minnesota today. Deep blue skies, temperatures in the 70’s and I had the day off. I celebrated by going out to the arboretum to enjoy the beauty of the day and came home inspired and refreshed.
