first hat done

Monday, December 29th, 2008

I have completed my first hat for Operation Warm and Toasty. I knitted it in less than a week using a chunky wool blend yarn and this easy pattern that I found on Groovy Mom’s Blog. It is a very thick hat and should be nice and warm.

I am participating in an ugly fabrics challenge and I have procrastinated doing anything with these fabrics for

Hats for Wounded Soldiers

Friday, December 26th, 2008

Two days before Christmas I was watching a story on the news about a woman who has created a cookie brigade to send cookies overseas to our troops. Well she learned that there is a big need for knitted or crocheted hats to keep injured soldiers warm while being medivac’d from Iraq to a Germany. Well this is something I can certainly help with. So I went out and bought several skeins of chunky washable wool, that will knit up quickly. I have started in a nice claret colored wool as you can see. Hopefully, I will have this hat done by the end of the weekend. If you are interested in helping, click on the operation warm and toasty link on the top or side bar of this blog. All the information you need is there.

Stay Tuned…

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

Despite my best intentions it has been a long time since I posted anything. Partly because I haven’t been doing anything really fiber related. I have been working on Christmas presents, which I obviously can’t post yet, and learning some basic drawing and illustrated journaling skills through classes with Jessica Wesolek at www.cre8it.com.

January is typically a very productive month for me, so I hope to have lots of fun things to show you. I also joined in Leah’s creative everyday 2009 challenge (See the sidebar)and plan to post at least weekly in relation to that challenge.
